about
Buttons was the second song that I put out for this project. meija was such a new idea at that point. I’ve learned a lot as a solo artist and a producer since I started this project and I’ve gotten much more into analog and live recording. I had this idea that it could be a fun experiment to see how I would tackle this song now, four years later, more in the style of “Do Ya?”. It was really fun to bring in all the musicians I used on that record on this new version. I thought it would be great if I also brought in another vocal on it. I connected with Harmless and discussed the idea with him. He recorded some background vocals that I think really add a nice additional touch.
lyrics
I’m running on low, couldn’t let it show
But I want your more than anybody else I know
Couldn’t let you go, you could keep my soul
Cause now you know more than anybody else should know
I’ll let you take my pride
Who needs it anyways?
There’s nothing left to hide
That’s why
I let you push all of my buttons all the time
I let you push all of my buttons all the time
Pushing me out, pushing me out of my head
Me out of my head
I could take a fall, I could lose it all
Might as well take what everybody else is on
Find me down the hall, cause now I feel small
Being a part of something, somewhere I haven’t gone
There’s nothing left of pride
Now I’m a runaway
Just now I feel alright
That’s why
I let you push all of my buttons all the time
And you could push me off the edge if you like
Pushing me out, pushing me out of my head
Me out of my head
